Tasting Profile
The 2007 Hourglass Blueline Estate Merlot is rich and layered, a product of our Blueline Vineyard’s mineral rich, nutrient poor soils. Sour cherry, dried cranberry and powdered cocoa aromas fuse with an underscore of Mandarin orange zest and high-toned minerality resulting in a bounding perfume. Flavors of dark sour cherry and strawberry mingle with caramelized brown sugar on the palate. Tannins are silky, with great acidity to frame the ripe flavors, providing a beautiful and layered finish. Cabernet Savignon and Cabernet Franc may tend to get the spotlight, but Merlot is the true star of this ranch.
